Imagine being without a bed or a sofa, or even just some pans to cook your food with. It may seem unimaginable to you, but in reality, there are many people in Northampton and the surrounding villages that are without many essential items for their home. We are here to provide help for these people by providing second hand furniture and household items.
AN UPDATE FROM SPENCER CONTACT
We’re praying that this virus which has kept families, schools, workplaces and churches apart will continue to get pushed back. We’re pleased to let you know that Spencer Contact has remained open through the recent lockdown but we took the decision to cease collections and deliveries in order to keep staff and customers safe.
We plan to recommence deliveries and collections on 2 December 2020, although due to changes in working practices the number that we can do each day will be restricted for the next couple of months, this unfortunately will mean longer waiting times for customers, please bear with us over this period. We are also prioritising customers that we had to postpone due to the lockdown. We would ask that if we are due to deliver or collect from you that you notify us immediately if anyone in your household is showing symptoms of coronavirus, has tested positive or been told to self-isolate. We also politely request that you wear a mask and socially distance yourselves when our drivers/delivery persons visit your property
We are happy to accept donations of furniture or household items at our warehouse from 2 December 2020, though please call us first. Please note that we can only accept items that we can re-use. We are in particular need of the following items: –
Mattresses (stain free and in good condition)
Duvets & pillows (clean and stain free)
If you telephone the office and it is answered by voicemail, please leave your name and telephone number and Ruth will call you back. We do not currently have all of our staff back in the office and therefore, whilst we make every effort to answer calls as they come in, it is not possible to achieve this.
We are working hard to get back to ‘normal’ and our priority remains as it always has ‘to help those who are in need in this town of Northampton’. Please continue to support the work of Spencer Contact as we need this now as much as ever.
